Japonica rice is a short-grain rice variety from Japan, sometimes referred to as Sinica rice. It is one of the two main rice varieties in Asia. Japonica rice is widely grown and consumed in China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. In Vietnam, it is primarily cultivated in the provinces of Dong Thap and An Giang.
